Holland Elementary School

Holland Elementary School

DEI provided project management services for the Council Rock School District’s Holland Elementary School additions and renovations project. Additions consisted of a new administration area, gymnasium and additional classrooms, and renovations to the existing building including the installation of a new electrical service, security system, mechanical systems with chiller and energy recovery units, upgrading building envelope, and a reconfiguration and enlargement of the parking area.

All work was completed while school was in session. Due to DEI’s extensive phasing knowledge and expertise, as well as the implementation of a comprehensive milestone schedule, all construction was completed on schedule without disrupting the educational program.

Renovation projects often encounter issues regarding existing building information. As issues arise, DEI provides a possible solution to the Architect immediately, as an advocate for the Owner, to prevent delays and costly change orders. On the Holland Elementary project, the underground sanitary piping was unable to be installed as designed due to existing electrical ductbank under the floor slab of the new toilet room. DEI assisted in the development of a new piping design and presented it to the consultant without delaying the work. All project milestone dates developed by DEI were met on this project.
