Northampton Community College, Bethlehem Campus

D’Huy provided planning and project management services to the Community College during the design and construction of a new campus Student Recreation Center.  The 46,000 SF project was completed in two phases over 16 months during which DEI provided full time project management services that included project administration, quality control, materials testing, and HVAC balancing.  The project was completed using multiple prime contractors and included 20,000 SF of renovation of the existing center, a new gymnasium with 3 basketball courts and bleacher seating, locker rooms, fitness center and a facade upgrade to match the existing architecture.

Renovation work included the conversion of an existing gymnasium to state-of-the–art classrooms, multi-purpose rooms and kitchen renovations.

The work was constructed in two phases to maintain the operation of the athletic program.  During design, DEI provided the architect with phasing drawings to minimize the impact of construction on campus activities. The project was completed during the summer of 2005 and was $3M under budget.

D’Huy also assisted the college with a feasibility study, roof investigation and architectural selection for a 100,000 SF satellite campus building.

In addition, the Community College retained the services of D’Huy Engineering for Project Management services to oversee the planning, design, bidding, and construction phases of their new Monroe County Campus with an estimated value of $72,000,000.
