PPL Corporation - Distribution Division

D’Huy Engineering, Inc. was retained by PPL Corporation to provide project and construction management for electrical distribution projects throughout their service territory across Eastern Pennsylvania.

D’Huy managed packages of new and refurbished distribution line, substation, SCADA and transformer projects from planning through design, procurement, construction and commissioning. As the project manager, D’Huy engaged various internal PPL departments for property acquisition, environmental assessment, procurement, engineering, work force scheduling, outage planning and commissioning to deliver projects of varying complexity and duration. D’Huy also interfaced with customer groups and regulatory agencies in planning for and obtaining approvals required for execution of the work.

D’Huy was responsible for developing budgets, scopes and schedules for the work, assembling teams of in-house designers and consultants to execute design, and oversee construction in the field. Project delivery methodologies included, design-build, design-bid-build, and time and material construction. D’Huy oversaw the execution of smaller projects using PPL work crews and well as larger projects bid and contracted to independent companies. 

D’Huy completed more than 50 projects as PPL’s agent during this program and has been recognized for ingenuity and resourcefulness in accomplishing project objectives with closely controlled schedules and budgets while maintaining PPL’s high standards for safety and quality as well as state and federal regulations governing the methodologies of project execution.
